Virginia Cattle Prices Drop Amid Fluctuating Grain Market

The Virginia Market News Service released its weekly agricultural trends report on September 4, 2026. In this report, they noted that state-graded feeder cattle in Virginia were mostly priced between $10.00 to $44.00 lower compared to the previous week.

Feeder cattle at regular auction sales had an uneven pricing range of $8.00 lower to $12.00 higher. Slaughter cows also had an uneven price range, ranging from $10.00 lower to $16.00 higher.

The report also covered grain prices, with wheat increasing by .01 to .11 higher, and new crop wheat priced at .01 higher. Corn prices were uneven, ranging from .24 lower to .06 higher, with new crop corn priced between .07 to .10 higher.

Soybeans saw a significant increase of .48 higher, with most new crop soybeans also priced at .48 higher.
