Vista Energy Stocks Soar as Oil Prices Top $100
Vista Energy SAB de CV (NYSE:VIST) shares are surging along with other oil and gas names as crude prices climb above $100 a barrel.
The surge in VIST momentum comes as Saudi Oil Output Falls to its lowest level since 1990, according to Riyadh's disclosure to OPEC. The kingdom's own figures show a drop of 1.9 million barrels a day down to roughly 6.24 million, due to the reignited conflict between Washington and Tehran that has choked off routes for oil movement.
Houthi fighters backed by Iran have seized the Yemeni port city of Mokha, which could mark a decisive shift in the country's ongoing civil conflict and give the group greater sway over the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipping routes. This geopolitical flashpoint has pushed West Texas Intermediate crude past the $100-a-barrel mark.
The rise in oil prices hasn't happened in isolation, with bond markets moving in tandem to pressure stocks broadly. The 10-year note is at 4.93%, a level unseen since 2023, after a hotter-than-expected reading on wholesale prices strengthened the case for a potential Federal Reserve rate hike next week.
Vista shares are up 6.34% at $79.30, trading near its 52-week high of $81.43.
