Volgograd Refinery Hit by Ukraine in Latest Drone Attack
Ukraine's military has launched another drone attack on Russia's oil refining capacity, targeting Lukoil's Volgograd refinery. The facility, capable of processing 300,000 barrels per day, produces gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.
The Ukrainian forces claimed a 'successful' hit, but the extent of damage is unclear. This is not the first time the Volgograd refinery has been attacked, with an earlier drone strike in early summer forcing it to suspend operations.
According to Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the fuel crisis in the country had started to ease after some refineries resumed operations following repairs. However, this week Russia extended a ban on gasoline and diesel exports until the end of the year, indicating that the situation has not improved significantly.
