Wall Street Slides Amid Soaring Crude Oil Prices
Wall Street stocks continued their downward trend on Wednesday, marking the third consecutive session of losses. The major averages closed lower, with the Dow experiencing its lowest closing level in over a month. Despite ending the day off their lows, all three indices remained in negative territory.
The Dow slid 405.41 points or 0.8 percent to 52,380.66, while the Nasdaq declined 168.07 points or 0.6 percent to 26,253.34. The S&P 500 fell 37.16 points or 0.5 percent to 7,636.36.
The decline in stocks can be attributed to surging crude oil prices, which have been a major concern for investors. While the exact cause of the price increase is unclear, it has led to higher inflation expectations and a stronger US dollar.
