Stocks on Wall Street showed a mixed performance on Friday, despite heavy fighting in the Middle East threatening to disrupt oil supplies. The S&P 500 index rose 0.1%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.5%. However, the Nasdaq composite fell by 0.6%.

The global flow of oil was put at risk as Brent crude prices dropped for the first time in a week, falling almost 4% to $96.78 a barrel from $102 earlier in the day. Treasury yields also decreased in the bond market.

European markets saw gains, but Asian markets closed lower. This mixed performance comes after all three major indexes finished the week in the red.
