Walmart Slashes Prices This Summer to Celebrate America's 250th Birthday
The retail giant Walmart has announced that it will be slashing prices this summer in honor of America's 250th birthday. The price reductions have already hit store shelves, giving customers plenty of time to take advantage of the deals before they're gone.
Some of the notable grocery items on sale include fresh sweet corn, which is now priced at $0.25 per ear (down from $0.68), and a 2.25-pound bag of fresh red cherries for $5.63 (down from $11.18). Other deals include ground beef, which is now priced at $5.94 per pound (a nearly 12% decrease from its previous price), as well as Great Value ice cream and Lay's potato chips.
Walmart U.S. Executive Vice President and Chief Merchant Julie Barber explained that the retailer is making 'even more investments in price' this summer, with thousands of Rollbacks across products customers are shopping for most. According to Barber, 'customers count on Walmart to deliver the value they need every day, and summer is no exception.'
While the reduced prices are described as summertime Rollbacks, it's unclear whether they will remain in effect after the summer months.
