War-Driven Shortages Threaten Global Standard of Living

The ongoing conflicts in Iran and Ukraine are having far-reaching consequences on our daily lives. One of the most significant impacts will be on our standard of living, which may soon regress to a level that many find unacceptable.

According to Bob Sweeney from Warwick, Rhode Island, the need to replace depleted military arsenals, including Patriot missiles and other interceptors, will have an effect on domestic supply lines. This could lead to shortages in fuel with higher prices due to Strait of Hormuz blockades.

Sweeney also warns that wheat and grain prices may increase due to port closures, driving up prices to multiyear highs. Additionally, a shortage of fertilizer is possible due to damage to natural gas plants, elevating long-term insecurity risks.
