Warsh Speaks: Gold Prices Flat Ahead of Jackson Hole

Gold prices were relatively unchanged on Friday as investors awaited comments from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole symposium for clues on interest rates.

The precious metal traded flat at $4,602.19 an ounce by 08:25 ET (12:25 GMT), while silver fell 0.2% to $4,655.41.

Gold had hit a three-month high near $4,700/oz earlier in the week due to concerns over U.S. fiscal policy and Treasury support for longer-dated bonds.

The yellow metal was set for a marginal weekly fall after three consecutive weeks of gains.

Investors are positioning cautiously ahead of Warsh's speech, which is being closely watched for signals on inflation and the central bank's approach to interest rates.
