Warsh's Inflation Comments Spark Gold Price Drop, But Mining Costs Remain a Concern
Gold prices dropped on Friday following remarks from Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh in Jackson Hole about inflation, but the price of gold still remained higher than its mid-July lows. According to the World Gold Council, the current price of gold continues to outpace mining costs.
In August 2026, gold prices saw a decline due to Warsh's comments on inflation. However, the World Gold Council reported that gold prices are still about 12% higher than their mid-July lows.
The joint venture partners of Nevada Gold Mines, Barrick Mining Corp. and Newmont Corp., saw their share prices drop as well. Despite this, gold mining costs remain a concern for companies operating in the sector.
