Wealthy Investors Bet Big on Oil and Gas Amid Energy Crisis
The energy crisis has drawn wealthy investors to oil and gas assets, despite the crowded market and high valuations.
According to Altrata, the combined wealth of the world's billionaires jumped 12.8% year-over-year to a record $15.1 trillion in 2025, with tech being a major driver of new wealth.
However, ultra-high-net-worth investors and family offices are now following the smart money into energy, looking to capitalize on high energy prices triggered by the war in Iran and rapidly growing energy demand driven by the AI boom.
'It's not a cyclical play. This isn't a commodity trade anymore. It's a structural shift,' Andrew Dock from Bank of America told CNBC.
