Wellsville Resident Finds Sweet Success with Frozen Corn
Chuck Wiser's love for corn is well-documented in his column 'Wiser's Wramblings.' This season, he's particularly enthusiastic about the sweet corn available at Bob's Market in Wellsville. With over four years of experience purchasing and freezing corn, Chuck swears by the quality and claims that once thawed and re-cooked, it's even sweeter than when fresh.
The price of a full bushel is $29, which Chuck considers 'very reasonable' for the quality he gets.
However, Chuck admits that removing kernels from cobs can be a tedious process. He's tried various products in the past but found them cumbersome to use. This year, he created his own cob holder using an old cutting board and a stainless-steel screw.
Chuck's not the only one enjoying the seasonal produce; apples are also ripe for picking. Unfortunately, he recently lost one of his prized Macintosh apples to a deer that had reached high up into the tree.
