West Asia Tensions Drive Brent Crude Price to Four-Month High
New Delhi [India], September 11 - The Brent crude oil price surged to a four-month high of USD 108.77 per barrel on Friday, driven by escalating tensions in West Asia and concerns over energy supplies.
The situation in the region has entered a critical phase, with military mobilizations and disruptions to global energy corridors putting further pressure on crude oil prices.
Brent crude has surged more than 12% over the past week as renewed tensions have raised concerns over energy supplies and stability of key energy corridors.
Economist Sunil Sinha warned that a sustained rise in crude prices could put pressure on India's economic growth by increasing inflation, import costs, and risks to the current account.
