Western Canada Oil Rig Count Rises to 147
The oil rig count in Western Canada increased by one to 147 rigs for the week ended August 21, according to Baker Hughes data.
The gas-directed rig count remained unchanged at 65 rigs, but is still eight higher than it was at this time last year and near its five-year average for this time of year.
In Alberta, the gas rig count increased by one, while in British Columbia it fell short of its prior five-year average. The oil rig count in Saskatchewan rose by two this week, with one oil rig added in Manitoba but two dropped in Alberta.
