Western Heat Shields Natural Gas Forwards from Nationwide Sell-Off
Natural gas forwards experienced a broad sell-off during the July 22-29 trading period, but Western points bucked this trend due to record desert temperatures.
The heat-driven gains from last week were given back, with prices retreating nationwide except in areas where extreme heat was keeping buyers on their toes.
The Southwest hubs managed to resist the national selloff and even saw some rallying, while Permian round-trips were able to recover its losses. However, New England's winter prices continued to slide for the second week in a row.
