Western Visayas Corn Prices Surge, Output Falls
Farmgate prices of mature white corn in Western Visayas nearly doubled in June 2026 compared to the same month last year, according to preliminary Philippine Statistics Authority data. The PHP 40 per kilogram price recorded in June was 105.1% higher than the PHP 19.50 per kilogram price in June 2025.
Western Visayas corn output fell 2.4% during the second quarter of this year, with regional production standing at 20,043 metric tons compared to 20,527 metric tons in the same period last year. The area harvested for corn declined by 13.9%, from 5,020 hectares to 4,322 hectares.
Capiz was the region's largest corn producer, accounting for 53% of total production with 10,623 metric tons, followed by Antique and Iloilo provinces.
