Wheat Market Holds Steady as CBT and HRW Show Mixed Action
The wheat market has been holding steady on Wednesday morning, with some mixed action observed across different contracts. The Chicago Board of Trade (CBT) saw higher prices, while hard wheats were fading lower.
In Tuesday's trading, the spring wheat market held up well, but winter wheats were on the weaker side. Within the Chicago SRW contracts, front months decreased by 1 to 10 ¼ cents, and deferreds showed a fractionally higher price. However, open interest slipped 7,720 contracts primarily due to liquidation in the September contract.
The Kansas City Hard Red Winter (HRW) futures were the weakest of the three exchanges, with prices down 5 ¼ to 15 cents at the close. Open interest for these contracts was up by just 168 contracts.
