Wheat Prices Fall as Traders Take Profits Amid Ongoing Conflict
Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures declined on Monday as traders took profits after last week's gains, according to data from Investing.com. The December soft red winter wheat futures fell by a quarter cent to $6.89-1/4 per bushel.
The market is still grappling with disruptions caused by attacks on Black Sea shipping routes by Russia and Ukraine. Weeks of attacks have reduced shipments at Russia's main grain export hub, Novorossiysk.
Loadings at Russia's Black Sea ports remained low, while Ukraine has shifted to shipping grain through western neighbors such as Romania, traders said.
