Wheat Prices Soar 43%, Global Commodity Markets Remain Volatile

The price of wheat has increased by 43% over the past year, with CBOT prices rising 6.4% to $274.9 per ton and Kansas wheat increasing 4.9% to $297.2 per ton. The Black Sea region remains a key area of concern due to ongoing Russia-Ukraine negotiations.
Russian grain terminals at the port of Novorossiysk are experiencing infrastructure problems, expected to take 1-4 months to repair, affecting sea export capacity. Ukrainian alternative shipping routes across the Danube River are also congested, with around 70 grain ships waiting in Romania's Sulina Canal.
Egypt and Sudan have purchased wheat from France due to supply disruptions from the Black Sea region. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture is considering temporarily suspending grain export taxes to reduce domestic inventory pressure.
