Wheat Prices Soar on Geopolitical Risks and Poor Harvest Prospects
Wheat prices are experiencing significant gains, driven by various overlapping geopolitical risks and deteriorating global harvest prospects. The US wheat contract quotes have reached $751.1 per level, making it one of the top commodity market leaders recently.
The price increase has accelerated in recent sessions, with a 7.94% weekly gain and 13.61% monthly rise. Since the beginning of the year, the price has increased by 48.40%, while compared to the same period last year, it is 42.08% higher.
The main drivers of wheat price growth include the escalation in the Black Sea region, Putin's threats, quality problems in Europe, weather pressure in the USA and Canada, and rising freight and inventories.
