Wheat Prices Soar to Three-Year High Amid Black Sea Export Uncertainty
Agricultural prices have reached their highest level in 14 years due to conflict and weather conditions. In August, the Bloomberg Agriculture Spot Index increased by 13% to $434, its biggest monthly rise in 14 years.
The index tracks 10 major agricultural and food commodities, with wheat being a key growth driver. Wheat prices recently hit a three-year high due to the situation at Black Sea ports.
A report by Lachstock Consulting notes that if exports from the Black Sea basin do not resume, the market will face a multi-seasonal supply problem rather than a short-term logistical challenge.
