Williams Expands East Coast Pipeline System Amid Strong Q2 Results
Williams Companies reported strong second-quarter results, fueled by higher natural gas transmission and storage revenues. The company's confidence in expanding its biggest pipeline system and boosting its role in the data-center market is evident in its plans for the Transcontinental (Transco) Gas Pipeline system.
The Southeast Supply Enhancement (SESE) project will expand service across Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama, while the Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) project will expand service across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. More than $900 million worth of projects related to NESE or SESE are nearing or under construction, with completions set for the second half of 2027.
Williams is also expanding its role in providing natural gas-fired power generation to the U.S. East Coast through a series of expansions and additions to its pipeline system, including compressor stations and new pipeline segments. The company's Socrates South Power Plant in Ohio has achieved in-service status, supplying 286.5 megawatts (MW) to Meta Platforms Incorporated's Prometheus South Data Center.
Williams reported net income of $827 million for second-quarter 2026, a 51% increase from the same period last year, while total revenues stood at $3.05 billion, a 9.8% increase. The company's growth is evident despite weaker natural gas prices.
