Williams Seals $5.5B Monument Midstream Deal Amid LNG Export Surge
Williams has agreed to purchase Monument Midstream for $5.5 billion in cash, expanding its presence in the Haynesville Shale and positioning it for growth in LNG exports, power generation, and data center development along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
The acquisition will strengthen Williams' gathering footprint in East Texas and Louisiana while creating opportunities for new transmission projects that connect growing natural gas supplies with rapidly expanding demand centers.
Williams executives cited the Haynesville's expected growth of over 10 Bcf per day, LNG exports doubling from current levels, and power generation demands increasing due to data center development as key drivers behind the deal.
The combined system will enhance Williams' ability to supply LNG export terminals, electric utilities, and industrial customers across the Gulf Coast. The company announced two major expansion projects, the Shelby Connector and Delta Access pipelines, with initial capacities of 750 MMcf/d and 2.25 Bcf/d respectively.
