Worker Dies in Gas Plant Incident in Northeast BC
A worker at Tourmaline Oil's Aitken Creek gas plant in northeast British Columbia has died after an incident on August 27.
The company says a third-party contractor was killed while performing a routine water transfer, more than 120 kilometers northwest of Fort St. John.
Tourmaline Oil is the largest natural gas producer in Canada and has been cooperating with WorkSafeBC throughout the investigation.
This incident marks the second death at a Tourmaline facility this year, following a fatality at its Gundy gas plant in April 2025.
