Wright Grilled on High Oil Prices: 'I Don't Know the Future'
Chris Wright, the Energy Secretary under Trump, faced tough questions from Fox News anchor John Roberts about high oil prices. Wright claimed that the number of tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz was increasing, but Roberts pressed him on when Americans could expect gas prices to go down.
Wright conceded that he 'don't know the future' but expressed optimism that the power of Iran would continue to shrink and traffic would increase. He also pointed out that Iran can't export any oil right now as part of its economic strangulation, but added that the world doesn't need Iranian oil.
Roberts pressed Wright on why oil prices were still high despite almost pre-war levels of oil being exported. Wright attributed this to 'disruption' caused by the conflict and pointed out that oil prices were higher during the Biden administration without such disruption. He also blamed Democratic policies, stating that electricity prices are over 40% higher in states run by Democrats.
Wright claimed that foolish green energy policies were at least as responsible for high energy prices as the conflict with Iran, and that these policies don't lead to a better world but rather a more expensive one.
