Wright Touts Nuclear Expansion and Responsible Energy Production in New Mexico
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright visited Lea County in New Mexico to promote the Trump administration's energy agenda. He toured Urenco, a uranium enrichment facility that produces enriched nuclear fuel for one-third of the nation's 88 nuclear power plants.
The expansion at Urenco will double its production capacity and is critical to the administration's goal of increasing nuclear energy production. Wright emphasized safety over bureaucracy in nuclear development and expressed enthusiasm for the industry's potential.
Wright also visited an oil production site operated by Mewbourne Oil Co., where he highlighted the company's commitment to responsible energy production, reusing 87% of its produced water in fracking new wells and capturing 99.8% of methane produced.
