U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright visited Midland, Texas, to celebrate record oil production and natural gas exports.

The Permian Basin is at the heart of American dominance in natural gas production, with the U.S. exporting over 100 million metric tons in 2025 and expecting to break this record again in 2026 and 2027, according to Wright.

Wright credited President Donald Trump's administration for these accomplishments, stating that 'President Trump may not be an expert in oil and gas, but he knows it’s important.' He emphasized the importance of trusting American businesses and entrepreneurs to raise wages and lower costs.

Despite record production, gas prices in the U.S. still average around $4 per gallon due to delays in the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing Iran War.
