WTI Crude Oil Tumbles Through Head and Shoulders Top Formation

WTI crude oil has been in a downward trend since breaking through the neckline of a head and shoulders top formation near $79.00 on the daily chart. The commodity fell to as low as $74.30 before buyers stepped in, initiating a corrective bounce back toward the broken support. Technical indicators suggest that sellers could be lurking at key Fibonacci levels.

The 38.2% Fibonacci retracement lies at $79.11, close to the former neckline, while the 50% level is at $80.59. A deeper retracement could reach the 61.8% Fib at $82.08, which aligns with a descending trend line connecting the pattern's shoulders. If these levels hold as resistance, WTI crude oil may resume its slide toward the swing low near $74.30 or lower.

However, the 100 SMA has crossed above the 200 SMA, creating dynamic support on dips and complicating the bearish case. Additionally, stochastic and RSI indicators have surged out of oversold territory, reflecting strong bullish momentum that could still have further to run before sellers regain control.
