WTI Crude Price Drops on Diplomatic Hopes Amid Middle East Tensions
Oil prices dropped on renewed hopes for a diplomatic solution to the US-Iran conflict. The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil benchmark is trading around $82.50 per barrel during the Asian hours on Friday, after reaching a low of $82.60 earlier in the day.
The price dip comes despite efforts by Saudi Arabia to secure regional water transport through a maritime coalition with 43 nations. The initiative aims to safeguard key shipping routes, following a blockade imposed last week by Iran-backed Houthi militants.
TD Securities cautions that 'supply risks keep piling up' in the oil market, even as investors focus on positioning and short-term flows. The bank argues that disruptions and geopolitical flashpoints are increasingly difficult to ignore, reinforcing its view that tightening physical balances should remain a key driver for crude prices.
