WTI Oil Declines as Hormuz Escorts Ease Supply Fears Amid Tensions
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil prices declined by 1.21% on Friday, settling around $88.55 per barrel at the time of writing.
The recent development came after US military forces escorted 40 commercial vessels carrying approximately 18 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, easing supply fears amid tensions between the United States and Iran.
Despite this reassurance, risks remain elevated as Iran targeted US military bases in Kuwait and the UAE on Thursday, while clashes around the Strait of Hormuz continue to fuel concerns about maritime security.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical chokepoint for global energy exports, with any disruption potentially reviving concerns over oil flows and limiting WTI's correction.
