WTI Oil Price Remains Subdued Amid Iran-Oman Agreement
The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil price remains subdued near $74.00 due to an Iran-Oman agreement on the Hormuz waterway, according to TMGM trading.
An Iran-Oman joint statement is in the final drafting stage, proposing a route that will remain operational for two to four months. However, Tehran stressed that this agreement does not amount to a full reopening of the strategic waterway.
US officials continue to express confidence that a broader deal with Iran is nearing, but investors remain cautious about the durability of any lasting peace in the region.
Phil Flynn, a senior analyst with Price Futures Group, noted that the market remains optimistic but guarded, saying 'This agreement seems as tenuous as past agreements, and as we know, none of those have held up for very long.'
