Wyoming-to-Cushing Oil Pipeline Project Moves Forward
A new oil pipeline project is set to connect Wyoming to Cushing, Oklahoma. South Bow and Bridger Pipeline have announced plans to jointly develop a pipeline from Guernsey, Wyoming, to Cushing, with a priority on engaging landowners and communities along the route.
The pipeline will be the third leg of a larger project aimed at moving oil from Alberta to the Cushing hub. This comes after a J.P. Morgan research report revealed that South Bow and Bridger acquired the right-of-way of the Liberty pipeline, which was originally designed to transport oil from the Rockies and North Dakota Bakken production areas to Cushing.
The project's third leg is seen as crucial in addressing the lack of significant oil egress capacity out of Wyoming/Colorado. According to Matthew Lewis, founder of Plainview Energy Analytics, 'The third leg is an imperative piece of the overall project.'
