Xcel Energy Boosts Texas and New Mexico Electricity Supply with 3.928 MW Renewable Projects
Xcel Energy has announced plans to expand its electricity supply in Texas and New Mexico by 3.928 MW of new capacity through 11 generation projects that combine solar energy, wind power, battery storage, and natural gas.
The company selected the projects after a competitive request for proposals process that evaluated over 50 bids from various technologies. The portfolio consists of five solar plants, one solar project with battery storage, four wind farms, and one natural gas-fired power plant.
Xcel Energy aims to balance reliability, affordability, and long-term value for customers in the region by incorporating both renewable resources and dispatchable generation to maintain system stability when wind or solar power production decreases.
