XME Holds Ground Amid August Rally Chaos
The State Street SPDR S&P Metals & Mining ETF (XME) has maintained its bull case despite the August rally. XME tracks the S&P Metals & Mining Select Industry Index, giving investors exposure to US-listed companies involved in steel, gold, silver, copper, aluminum, diversified mining, and coal and consumable fuels.
The fund's portfolio is currently dominated by steel, gold, and coal, with allocations shifting frequently due to commodity exposures and top holdings. This dynamic nature of XME's sector and company weights means investors should not expect static compositions.
Recent price surges in gold, driven in part by central bank buying, have benefited XME more than copper. Despite long-term copper demand projections, the metal has struggled to match the gains seen in gold. US trade policy and government support for steel and uranium are critical drivers for XME's near-term and strategic material holdings.
