Year-Round E15 Legislation Stalls in Senate Committee

Congress has yet to pass legislation that would allow corn farmers to sell fuels with a 15% ethanol blend year-round, despite its passage in the House of Representatives on May 13. The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry held a vote on the Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2026 in early August, but it was met with disagreement among committee members along party lines.

The legislation, if passed, would eliminate an antiquated regulatory clause that prevents the summertime sale of E15. Corn growers are now taking time away from their fields to make their voices heard in Washington, D.C., as they push for passage before the end of this Congress.

The National Corn Growers Association has listed key wins that must be harvested this year, including passing year-round E15 legislation, a bipartisan Farm Bill, and support for the Biobased Materials Investment and Production Act. These solutions aim to expand market opportunities and inject more stability into the economics of farming.
