Year-Round E15 Sales Gain Traction in US Senate
Around-the-year sales of E15 gasoline could offer consumers more opportunities to save money at the pump and expand markets for corn-based ethanol, industry representatives said.
The U.S. House passed legislation in May allowing year-round E15 sales, but the bill still needs Senate approval. Supporters say expanded ethanol markets could benefit livestock producers, oil production through carbon capture, and emerging markets such as sustainable aviation fuel.
North Dakota has seen significant growth in corn production over the past two decades, increasing from less than 500,000 acres to 4.5 million acres. E15 sells for about 15 cents less per gallon than regular gasoline in the Fargo area, according to Petro Serve's Dave Olson.
