Yemen Blocks Eight Saudi Oil Tankers Amid Escalation with Riyadh

Yemen's armed forces have blocked eight Saudi oil tankers from passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, in line with the country's 'siege for siege' equation. This move is a response to Saudi Arabia's blockade on Yemen, which has been ongoing since 2015.

The tankers were forced to change course towards the Strait of Good Hope, according to Brigadier Yahya Saree, the servicemen's spokesman. This naval blockade is part of Yemen's efforts to retaliate against Riyadh's actions and to bring an end to the conflict in the region.

Recently, Saudi warplanes attacked the port city of al-Hudaydah, prompting the armed forces to declare a new phase of confrontation with the kingdom. The 'siege for siege' equation is Yemen's strategy to escalate the situation and put pressure on Riyadh to lift its blockade.
