Yemen Forces Eight Saudi Oil Tankers to Alter Course Amid Blockade
The Yemeni Armed Forces have expanded their maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia by forcing eight oil tankers to reroute around Africa, according to a statement from Yahya Saree, the military spokesman. This move comes as part of Yemen's naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, which was declared under a 'blockade for blockade' principle in response to the Saudi siege of Sanaa airport.
The tankers were reportedly forced to change course and head towards the Cape of Good Hope, rather than their original destination. This development is seen as an escalation of the conflict between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, with both sides engaged in a naval standoff.
Saree assured the Yemeni people that the military would spare no effort to lift the siege on the country and reclaim all their rights. The statement also emphasized the determination of the Yemeni Armed Forces to reach Saudi ships 'wherever we are able.'
