Yemen Threatens Comprehensive Response Against Saudi Aggression
Yemen's Sanaa-based armed forces have announced new military deterrence equations against Saudi Arabia, including maritime restrictions and retaliatory strikes.
The measures are in response to what Yemen sees as Saudi aggression and the blockade imposed on the country. Brigadier General Yahya Sarie, spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, said that since a July 20 announcement of a maritime navigation ban targeting Saudi Arabia, Yemeni forces had carried out attacks against eight Saudi oil tankers.
The Yemeni forces have also conducted nine operations targeting sites in Yanbu, Najran, Jizan and Abha, as well as oil-related infrastructure in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. The operations resulted in casualties among Saudi-aligned forces and the destruction or burning of weapons depots and military equipment.
Sarie warned that any further escalation would trigger a comprehensive response from Yemen. He called on Saudi-backed Yemeni forces to leave their positions and return home, saying 'They are Yemenis, and we do not want to target them and have them become victims.'
