Yen Strengthens Against Dollar Amid Falling Oil Prices
The yen strengthened in Tokyo foreign exchange trading on the morning of October 26th. The dollar-yen pair stood at 159.01-02 yen, up 0.43 yen from the previous day's close.
This rise was attributed to yen-buying and dollar-selling by Japanese export-oriented companies and other real-demand players entering the market.
The decline in U.S. crude oil futures also eased concerns over Japan's deteriorating trade balance, providing additional support to the yen.
A front-month October contract for WTI (West Texas Intermediate) settled at $82.36 per barrel on October 25th, down $2.65 from the previous day, and extended its decline in trading on October 26th Japan time.
