Zelensky Orders Diversification of Ukraine's Export Routes Amid Intensified Russian Strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on his government to present measures by next week to diversify export routes, a move aimed at reducing the country's reliance on Black Sea lanes.
The decision comes after a high-level security meeting where officials discussed logistical challenges and Russian strikes on Odesa and its port infrastructure. Ukrainian Navy, Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), and government reports were presented during the meeting.
Zelensky expects the Prime Minister to provide a clear list of measures that will ensure diversification of export routes by next week. The President emphasized the importance of cooperation on grain exports and stable logistics, highlighting its contribution to global food security and countering the cost-of-living crisis in neighboring countries.
Russia has been intensifying attacks on Odesa's ports, grain terminals, and commercial vessels, posing risks to freedom of navigation, international trade stability, and global food security. From June 20 to July 20, Russian strikes hit 28 civilian merchant ships, killing 21 people and injuring 34 in the Greater Odesa region.
