$1 Million Crypto Heist: Fired FBI Agent Accused of Stealing From Suspect's Accounts

Share

An FBI agent working in Washington D.C. has been accused of stealing over $1 million in cryptocurrency from digital accounts tied to a suspect in an overseas criminal investigation.

According to court documents, Patrick Yaroch, a supervisory agent, confessed last week to the alleged crime and claimed it was 'eating him up inside'.

The documents reveal that Yaroch began taking money in 2024 or 2025 and made 10-12 withdrawals using passcodes for the suspect's accounts, which were gathered during the FBI investigation.

In a potentially damning detail, Yaroch's ChatGPT searches show he asked how to invest $1 million and what to do with it if he wanted to leave the USA and become a resident or citizen of an EU country.

The agent has not been charged but faces a charge of interstate transfer of stolen goods, and his home was searched over the weekend. He has since been fired from the FBI.
