$10 Million in Crypto Assets at Risk as Silicon Network Shuts Down
The shutdown of Silicon Network, an Ethereum layer-2 blockchain, has left nearly $10 million in crypto assets at risk of becoming unrecoverable. The network stopped accepting new bridge deposits on September 2 and has given users until December 31, 2026 to withdraw their assets.
Data from L2Beat shows that around $9.75 million remains on the network, including approximately $2.66 million in USDC, $2.54 million in wrapped Bitcoin, $2.08 million in Ether, and $1.85 million in USDT.
Silicon Network's shutdown highlights a fundamental risk in the blockchain market: choosing a chain is not just about transaction costs, speed, or technical capability, but also a bet on the network's long-term viability, liquidity, infrastructure, and ability to remain operational.
