$1.3 Billion Lost to Crypto Hacks in First Half

Hacking incidents in the cryptocurrency industry have caused significant losses in the first half of this year. According to Onchain Lens, which reported on X (formerly Twitter), a total of 224 hacking incidents occurred between January and June, resulting in $1.302 billion in losses.

The leading cause of these hacks was the theft of access credentials, with major cases including KelpDAO, Drift (DRIFT), and Humanity (H). These hacks resulted in losses of $292 million, $280 million, and $31 million respectively.

Phishing attacks also played a significant role in the total losses, with Ostium, Blend Protocol, and Bonzo losing $24 million, $10.86 million, and $9 million respectively. These phishing-related losses added up to $282 million.
