$14 Billion AMD Deal Shifts Core Scientific's Focus to AI Infrastructure
Core Scientific has signed a historic $14 billion deal with AMD to shift its focus from bitcoin mining to AI infrastructure capacity. The 15-year agreement involves 529 MW of AI infrastructure capacity, which could generate significant revenue for Core Scientific. This move marks a strategic pivot for the company away from bitcoin mining, following the end of its ASIC chip agreement with Block.
The deal includes options for AMD to reserve up to 1.9 GW more capacity through 2028, expanding the partnership to about 2.5 GW. Deployments are expected to start in 2027. This is a significant shift for Core Scientific, which has seen its bitcoin mining revenue decline sharply.
