$1.5 Billion in New Token Supplies to Hit Crypto Market in September
The first week of September 2026 is set to bring significant token unlocks worth around $1.5 billion in total.
Major projects, including Hyperliquid (HYPE), Ethena (ENA), and Sui (SUI), will release substantial new token supplies on September 1, 2, and 6 respectively.
These unlocks may introduce market volatility and impact short-term price movements. According to Tokenomist, the unlocked tokens account for a notable portion of the released supply: Hyperliquid's 9.92 million HYPE (worth $797 million) represents 2.37%, Sui's 13.53 million SUI (worth $9.73 million) accounts for 0.33%, and Ethena's 40.63 million ENA (worth $6.05 million) makes up 0.46%.
The teams behind these projects have allocated the unlocked supplies to core contributors, early investors, and community reserves. For example, Hyperliquid has historically claimed fewer tokens than its projected unlock amounts, according to Tokenomist.
