$16 Trillion Target Under Threat as US ETF Demand Falters
ARK Invest's $16 trillion Bitcoin target by 2030 is under scrutiny due to weak demand in the US ETF channel. The current market cap of around $1.26 trillion needs to increase by a factor of 12.66 in just over four years, with institutions and digital gold adoption making up almost the entire scenario.
The model relies heavily on institutional investment and digital gold, which total $14.8 trillion or 92.8% of the calculated base case. However, recent ETF data shows minimal net demand, with July's flows being the weakest positive month of 2026 so far.
ARK's Big Ideas 2026 report estimates that Bitcoin could compound about 63% annually during the five years to 2030, rising from nearly $2 trillion to roughly $16 trillion. However, this rate assumes a starting value near $1.39 trillion, which is not publicly stated.
