$189K Crypto Affiliate Spending Boosts Auchincloss to Victory in Massachusetts Primary

Share

A Fairshake affiliate spent $189,527.60 on advertisements supporting Representative Jake Auchincloss in Massachusetts' Fourth Congressional District primary election. The expenditures were made by Protect Progress, a Democratic-facing affiliate of the crypto-backed super PAC.

Auchincloss won the primary with 72.3% of the vote, defeating challenger Jason Poulos. Poulos had asked Auchincloss to renounce the spending, alleging that some of the advertisements used artificial intelligence-generated content.

The voting record of Representative Auchincloss is a key factor in his connection to the crypto industry's policy agenda. He voted for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would establish a federal market structure for digital assets and divide responsibilities between the Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
