$19.2 Billion Data Center Play: KKR Quietly Builds Digital Infrastructure Empire
KKR has closed its largest infrastructure fund ever, raising $19.2 billion to invest in data centers and digital plumbing that powers them.
The firm's Global Infrastructure Investors V fund is targeting data centers, energy and power transition assets, and storage and logistics infrastructure primarily across North America and Western Europe.
KKR has already committed over $9 billion across nine investments, including Global Technical Realty in Europe and EDF Power Solutions in North America. Raj Agrawal, KKR's global head for real assets, notes that booming demand from hyperscalers is driving the trend.
This raises questions about the crypto narrative around AI tokens, decentralized compute networks, and GPU marketplaces, as KKR bets $19.2 billion on centralized data centers.
