$1B+ Crypto Losses in H1 2026 as DPRK Hackers Strike

Crypto losses surpassed $1 billion in the first half of 2026, according to a report by blockchain security firm Blockaid.

The number of verified incidents exceeded the total for all of last year, with DPRK-linked hackers responsible for nearly $600 million of the total loss.

Two major exploits attributed to North Korea's government involved LinkedIn-based social engineering that compromised multisig signers, resulting in losses of $285 million and $292 million respectively.

Ethereum (ETH)-based projects lost $332 million during this period, while Solana (SOL)-based projects followed with $326 million in losses.
