$1B Crypto Wallet Turned Out to Be Empty, Recovery Specialist Left with $10
Crypto recovery specialists claim to help people regain access to their lost digital fortunes. However, in one case, a recovery specialist was left with a meager $10 after cracking what turned out to be an empty wallet worth over $1 billion.
The incident involved Rusty, who claimed he and two others had won 5,000 BTC in a court case worth around $53 million at the time. They contacted crypto recovery specialist Chris Brooks, founder of Crypto Asset Recovery, who flew to Georgia with his son Charlie to help them crack the wallet.
Rusty revealed that the wallet didn't only contain 5,000 BTC but also had a billion dollars in ETH. However, after spending the day opening wallets at a strip mall owned by one of them, Brooks and his son found only $10 in Bitcoin.
